Jeff Thompson and his wife

SERVICE

Jeff was honored to serve in the Idaho State Legislature from 2008-2018.

Jeff served as the 2016 chair of The Council of State Governments West.

As a state representative, Jeff showed strong leadership on numerous standing legislative committees including:

  • Environment, Energy, & Technology (Chairman)
  • Business (as Vice-Chairman)
  • Education
  • Appropriations (Joint with Senate – known as JFAC)
  • Health & Welfare
  • L.I.N.E. Committe (Leadership in Nuclear Energy)

EXPERIENCE

Prior to holding elected office, Jeff worked for Fortune 500 corporations (Marriott Corporation and Aramark) as a Regional Manager.  He was responsible for accounts in Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Alaska. His position included working with several local school districts, businesses, and universities. Jeff has also worked as a consultant for Idaho National Laboratory (INL).

EDUCATION

An outspoken supporter of education, Jeff  attained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from Liberty University and two Master’s Degrees in Human Resource Training and Development (HRTD, from ISU) and Business Administration (MBA) from Liberty University.

PERSONAL

Jeff has been married to his wife Chanin, a school counselor in Idaho Falls, Idaho for over 20 years.  Chanin was a teacher at Eagle Rock Jr. High (16 years) and currently works as a school counselor at Bonneville High School (14 years). Jeff and Chanin enjoy traveling,  exploring Idaho, and spending time with their puppy, Izzy.
